Nothing without you (naruto fanfic)

The wind was cold that night, blowing around brown, dry leaves and spiraling them to the heaven above. Aika was outside, leaning her arms on a railing as she looked out of an overlook. Konohagakure was peaceful at night. And very beautiful. She heard the sound of footsteps approaching from behind. Quickly, she whirled around to face the person. "Oh, Ronin."
There was a smirk in that familiar face, the only kind of smiling Ronin was capable of. "Flirty-sensei was worried about you." He stood next to her and stared out the overlook. "I was too."
"Hm." She turned back around to face the town again. "Its beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yes." He looked down at the ground, not meeting her eye. "Aika....there's something....I've been needing to say for a long time now."
"Can't it wait a moment?" Aika sighed, staring dazedly at the full, golden moon.


"You always say that."
"Say what?"
"For me to 'wait a moment'." Ronin gripped the railing, his bang-sidesweep covering that right eye of his. "I'm always trying to be honest with you, but you never seem to want to listen."
"I am listening." Aika shook her head, looking at him with annoyance. "What's so important? Are you going to leave again?"
"No." He growled. It was obvious he was getting angry with her. "I left the akatsuke three years ago! Don't you trust me, now that were older?"
"I don't know what to do." Aika turned away from him, closing her eyes. "You aren't exactly easy to predict, Ronin."

"What's that supposed to mean?" He asked. "Aika....I'm trying to tell you everything I'm feeling!"
"Then what?" Aika asked sharply. "What do you feel? What was so important? I thought you were coming to find me!"
"I...." He cut off suddenly.

Aika shook her head. "Goodnight, Ronin." She began to walk away.

Suddenly, a pair of arms grabbed her and held onto her from behind. She gasped, her eyes widening. Ronin put his chin on her left shoulder and squeezed his eyes shut.
"Aika, I'm nothing without you." He murmered into her ear. "I'm deeply in love with you. I always have been, all these years, since we first met in school. I love you, and I always will."

Aika felt the heat rush to her cheeks, and tears form in her eyes. "Ronin...." She closed them, and let him hug her.

Once the hug was over, and he let her go, Aika turned around and faced him again. "I didn't know you felt that way." She said. "I thought you wanted to go back to being a shinobi, not loving anyone."
"Not if I have you, Aika." Ronin smiled an actual, genuine smile. "Like Sasuke, I wish to go back to my can, oy this time, I'm going to reform it. And I want you by my side when I do." He looked into her eyes.
Aika smiled. Ronin has changed since he tried to steal her for Orochimaru, and was brought back here three years ago. With a nod, she said "I'd love to be by your side."
